The mandolin have long been a popular instrument in Irish and other British traditional music. In earlier days it seems Portuguese and especially French mandolins were the most common, but there were also quite a few Neapolitan mandolins around.

Today it's fair to say that there's a unique Celtic style mandolin, very similar to the French kind, but with an even simpler, cleaner design, a lighter build and a light and dynamic tone of its own.
