Today the term "bowlbacked mandolin" (or "bowl mandolin" or "Italian mandolin") usually refers to a Neapolitan or a Roman mandolin, but can also mean one of the other Italian mandolin types like the Cremonese mandolin, the Genovese mandolin, the Lombardic mandolin, the Milanese mandolin, the piccolo mandolin or the pocket mandolin.
