| | The term mandola (also spelled mandore, mandora or mandorla or shortened into mando) has been used for just about any member of the family at some point in history and is really a generic term for all members of the instrument family. Today it usually refers to the alto mandola or sometimes the tenor mandola (octave mandolin).
