The mando family

A mandolin is a mandolin is a mandolin, right? Oh no, things are much more complicated than that.

When I opened this site I wanted it to be about all the different kinds of mandolins and related isntruments, not just the most common one(s). I had absolutely no idea how big a topic that was!

I guess I'll never ever manage to finish the job, but even today I think it's the most complete and exact (in relative terms) presentation of the mando family on the internet. You can scroll down to the bottom of this page for a list of the sub-sections here, but if I were you I'd rather go straight to either

  • Mando A-Z (an alphabetical list of various names used for different mandos) or:
  • The mandolin family (a desperate attempt to create a somewhat systematic overview of the different instruments).

Other pages

There are a few pages (well actually just one at the moment) who doesn't really fit into my mando family presentation but I think belong here anyway:
