A desperate attempt to make a somewhat systematic overview of the different members of the mandola family and some related instruments. You could also have a look at the Mandos A-Z page for a list of alternative names for the different instruments.
Take this "family tree" with a little grain of salt. There is more than one way to classify mando style instruments and not all experts would agree with this one. (More comments on instrument classification.)
This list contains a complete (or as complete as I can manage to get it at this time) overview of the mandola and cittern families. For the other families I've only included members that seem for one reason or another to have special relevancy to a mandolin site.

This page is part of a major - and by no means finished - instrument presentation project involving most of my web sites. Things may still be a bit messy every now and then and there may still be important parts missing.
