    Data:
The cumbus is a Turkish stringed instrument invented at the end of the 19th Century. It's very similar to the banjo, but has a bowlshaped metal body and probably developed from some of the Asian skin head instruments. It's close enough to European instruments to interbreed with them though. One of these hybrids, the banjo cumbus should be of some interest to us mando players.
